The SPCUG Tech Shop crew has been refurbishing donated hardware and distributing the upgraded computers to individuals through social service agencies, schools and veterans organizations since 2011. Ten volunteers work 3 days/week on wiping data, restoring hardware and adding open source software. The Tech Shop closed as of December 2023 due to losing the garage where the crew worked for 12 years. Laptops will still be refurbished on a smaller scale.
